Phytin and Phosphoric Acid Esters of Inosite

چکیده
In continuation of the physiological investigation concerning the metabolism of the organic-phosphorus compound known as phytin, which has been and is being carried out at this institution by Dr. Jordan, a closer study of the chemical properties of this substance, phytin, became necessary. Much work has already been done and reported on this subject by various investigators. Definite information, however, concerning different kinds of salts formed by the free phytic acid or inosite phosphoric acid is seldom met with in the literature. Frequently impure salts have been analyzed. Posternak, who first successfully prepared phytin in pure form,l also studied its chemical’properties. Among the salts mentioned2 is one, calcium-magnesium, as well as one crystalline, calciumsodium, double salt, for which he gives the formula, 2C2H4Pz09Na4 +C2H4PzCaz + 8H20. Winterstein describes a calcium-magnesium compound which, after removing the calcium with oxalic acid and precipitating with alcohol, contained 42.24 ‘per cent PZOs and 12.97 per cent MgO. Patten and Hart,4 working in this laboratory, isolated from wheat bran an impure magnesiumcalcium-potassium compound. Levene5 describes a semi-crystalline barium salt which corresponds to a tetra-barium phytate. Vorbrodt! mentions a crystalline barium salt obtained by partially

Concerning Phytin in Wheat Bran
It has been shown in earlier reports1 that the organic phosphorus compounds of wheat bran which have been isolated after digesting the bran in 0.2 per cent hydrochloric acid differ in composition and properties from phytin or inosite hexaphosphate. It has been found that under these conditions several organic phosphoric acids are obtained. Of these we have isolated and identified t,wo; viz., in...

The occurrence of an enzyme which catalyzes the cleavage of phytin into inosite and phosphoric acid was first noted in rice bran by Suzuki, Yoshimura and Takaishi.1 These investigators found that when rice bran was suspended in water and left for several days at room temperature the greater part of the organic phosphorus went into solution, and at the same time phosphoric acid was formed at the...
متن کاملSynthesis of neopentyl glycol and ethylene glycol esters by fatty acids in the presence of acidic ion exchange resin catalyst
A most effective and less energy demanding method of producing fatty esters, diol esters, by esterifying fatty acids, with neopentyl and ethylenglycol alcohols in the presence of an acidic ion exchange resin catalyst(polyestyrendivinylbenzensulfated) was investigated at elevated temperature. In this process an azeotroping agent, toluene, was used to facilitate continuous removal of water by dis...
متن کاملThe Quantitative Estimation of Extractive and Protein Phosphorus.’
The different combinations of phosphorus to be found in a given tissue may be divided into three main groups: I. Protein phosphorus or phosphorus in combination with protein, including nucleoprotein and phospho-proteins or nucleoalbumins, insoluble in water especially after treatment with alcohol; 2. Lecithin and kephalin phosphorus or phosphorus in combination with fat and a nitrogen complex, ...
متن کاملOrigin of Catalytic Activity Differences between Phosphine and Phosphine Oxide-Based Structures in the Water-Crosslinkable Polyalkoxysilane Composition
Organocatalysts have attracted enormous interest in the water-crosslinking reaction in silane-grafted polyolefins (SGPOs) system owing to their simplicity, low toxicity and environmentally benign nature compared to organotin catalysts, which are most used in SGPOs system. We focus on organophosphorus compounds including four structure types as organocatalysts; phosphoric acids, phosphoric ester...
